Postdoctoral Research Fellow
SCHOOL OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY & ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral appointment in the area of condition assessment of electrical insulation (in particular to transformers). The position is funded by an Australian Research Council Linkage grant for the project ‘Investigation of key factors affecting the polarisation based diagnostics of power transformers’. Industry partners are Powerlink Queensland, Energy Australia NSW and the Connell Wagner Advanced Technology Centre.
 
The successful applicant will hold a PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field with particular skills in the theory of dielectric physics application to condition assessment of electrical insulation, or postdoctoral research in this area. Experience with software design (in C or MatLab environment) will be an advantage.
 
This is a full-time, fixed-term appointment for three years at Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Academic Level A06 to A08) level. The remuneration package will be in the range of $70,658 to $75,847 per annum which includes employer superannuation contributions of 17% of salary.

Situated within the Faculty of Engineering, Physical Sciences and Architecture, the School of Information Technology & Electrical Engineering aims to advance, develop, disseminate and exploit knowledge in Information and Communications Technology and Engineering (ICT&E) by the conduct of outstanding and impactful research and by the effective delivery of university-level courses to meet the needs of the community.

ITEE has active research programs and links with national and international centres of excellence in the following areas of strength: biomedical imaging; data & knowledge engineering; E-research; systems & software engineering; power and energy systems; ubiquitous computing; security & surveillance; complex & intelligent systems; microwave & optical communications; and cognitive systems engineering.

The School seeks committed persons in the discipline of power and energy systems. Responsibilities will include research, supervision of graduate students, preparation and management of research projects, and graduate and undergraduate teaching.

Successful candidates must hold a PhD in electrical engineering or a related field, or an equivalent mix of qualifications and experience.

These are continuing, full-time positions at Academic Level B or C, depending on qualifications and experience. The remuneration package will be in the range of $77,514 to $92,048 per annum (Academic Level B) and $94,955 to $109,488 per annum (Academic Level C), which includes employer superannuation contributions of 17% of salary. Salaries increase by 3% from 1 January 2008.

The School seeks a five-year teaching-focussed academic position (Level B/C) for the primary purpose of preparation and delivery of courses within the Master of Engineering (Power Generation) and undergraduate Mechatronics programs. Responsibilities will include graduate and undergraduate teaching, supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate course work thesis students and some involvement with research projects.
 

The successful candidate must hold a post graduate degree in electrical engineering or a related field, or an equivalent mix of qualifications and experience.
 

This is a five-year fixed term full-time appointment at Academic Level B or C, depending on qualifications and experience. The remuneration package will be in the range of $77,514 to $92,048 per annum (Academic Level B) and $94,955 to $109,488 per annum (Academic level C), which includes employer superannuation contributions of 17% of salary.
